Leaders need to listen to their employees and accept that in a post pandemic world, for some situations, remote work may be key in not only attracting but also, retaining top talent. Remote work offers the ability to draw from a wider talent pool
A good leader should therefore look to how they can maximise flexibility while not compromising on productivity.
In order to successfully build and retain tomorrows workforce, s/he will do so by leading, not managing, by becoming a team coach rather than a micro manager.
Good leadership is about fairness over popularity.
S/he should create an office environment which serves as a level playing field for all to prosper. This is good for the team as well as the organisation.
Simply doing things because that’s the way it’s always been done often stifles innovation.
The old Command and Control management style is no longer fit for (long term) purpose.
The days of hiding behind a company brand and hoping name recognition or the old boys network will see off competitors, are now fading.
It’s now a case of adapt or be left behind and if not, then your employees and customers will find someone else willing to offer them the employment terms, products or services they seek.
A good leader knows that this train is moving with or without them!
