While Fusion power (the energy process that powers the stars), is not yet commercially viable and we may be decades away, there have been recent breakthroughs which saw scientists got more energy out of the fusion process than they had to put in.
If/when scientists/plasma physicists overcome these technical challenges & if nuclear fusion can be replicated on earth at an industrial scale, it could provide virtually limitless clean, safe, and affordable energy to meet the world’s demand. While fusion is not 100% clean, it is far safer than fission.
This would be an absolute game changer both in terms of meeting our energy needs as well as, helping to scale and democratise tools such as AI, which is extremely expensive to build & run at the moment making it difficult for SMEs to build their own GPTs.
Without affordable and clean energy, breakthroughs in AI (like the internet & others before it), will continue to benefit only those who are already better off.
